Board Committees
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Members of the Executive Committee include the Board's president and vice-president. As elected officers, this Committee makes interim (between Board meetings) decisions as necessary. This Committee also provides guidance to administrative staff fro the budgeting and organizational components of the Board (i.e., sunset review, sunrise projects, budget change proposals, contracts, meeting agendas, and preparations, etc.). This Committee is responsible for directing the fulfillment of recommendations made by the Joint Committee on Boards, Commissions, and Consumer Safety.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Members of the Education Committee are responsible for the review and development of regulations regarding educational requirements for initial licensure and continuing education programs. Essentially, they monitor various education criteria and requirements for licensure, taking into consideration new developments in technology and managed care.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE SUPPORT COMMITTEE
The Emergency Response Support Committee is a one-person committee responsible for keeping the Board abreast of issues regarding emergency care, bringing issues of interest to the Board and facilitation communication between the Board, respiratory therapists, and public and private agencies.
ENFORCEMENT COMMITTEE
Members of the Enforcement Committee are responsible for the development, review and continual refinement of Board-adopted policies, positions and disciplinary guidelines. Although members of the Enforcement Committee do not review individual enforcement cases (if they do they recuse themselves from any further proceedings), they are responsible for policy development for the overall management of the enforcement program, pursuant to the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).
LEGISLATIVE/LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Members of the Legislative Affairs Committee are responsible for identifying, tracking, and making recommendations to the Board with respect to legislation impacting the Board's, mandate. In consultation with legal counsel, Board staff, and other interested parties, members develop legislative language, propose/recommend legislative changes, and identify statutory needs.
OUTREACH COMMITTEE
Members of the Outreach Committee are responsible for the development of consumer outreach projects, including the Board's newsletter, web site, e-government initiatives and outside organization presentations. These members act as good will ambassadors and represent the Board at the invitation of outside organizations and programs.
PROFESSIONAL LICENSING COMMITTEE
Members of the Professional Licensing Committee identify needs for reform, revision, and development of policies to strengthen the Board's licensing program. This Committee also addresses scope-of-practice issues that may impact the Board and its mandate.
